Briarcliff MX fits the exact definition of what a motocross venue should be. Where some facilities offer a basic track that focuses on just one discipline, Briarcliff MX offers four different tracks - this accommodates riders of all skill and age levels. Clay-based soils have trace amounts of sand sprinkled throughout and a total of 140 acres of land give patrons and riders plenty of room to get comfortable.
The first track, known as “The Big Track,” was the first track to open up at Briarcliff MX. The total length is roughly one mile, and the track has minimum width of 20 feet. This is also the most difficult of the four different tracks here, making it suitable for the more experienced riders. Obstacles include large tables and tunnels, as well as several key jumps. Average lap time on The Big Track is about two minutes.
If you're not confident enough in your skills for The Big Track, “The C Track” might be just right for you. The track itself has undergone many changes throughout the past several years, so it might be worth giving it another go if you haven't checked it out in a while. The most challenging obstacles here are tabletop jumps, which makes it perfect for beginning adults and experienced, older teens. Veteran riders sometimes use the track for a tame warm-up session before a big race. The track is less than a mile long, with lap times average right around the one-minute mark.
Next is the “Pitbike/Mini Track.” This track was specially designs for kids racing 65s and 50s, as well as adults on 50s and 110s. Obstacles here are all smaller and easier than the other tracks, with many tables, rollers, doubles, and some banked turns throughout.
The final track at Briarcliff MX is their “Beginner Pee Wee Track.” This is the smallest track at the venue, and it is specifically meant for children who are in the learning stages of motocross riding. High visibility lets parents keep a close eye on their children, and small jumps prevent the young riders from becoming bored with the track.
Additionally, Briarcliff MX has a trail loop that measures nearly two and a half miles in length. Snaking through the woods, the one-way trial has plenty of twists, turns, and elevation changes to keep riders busy. The track is located almost entirely in the woods, though it does stretch out into the fields, too.
Open ride days are typically held on weekends at Briarcliff MX. Daily race fees are $20 per day, with free camping and free admission for spectators. The venue is open from 11 am to 5 pm on open ride days. Briarcliff MX is not open to the public every weekend, and scheduled open ride days may be cancelled due to weather. It is always a good idea to call the venue ahead of time to confirm whether or not they are open.
