2012-fly-canard-shortIf there was ever any question about Fly's reputation as one of the leading motocross apparel manufacturers, they were quickly put to rest when the company released helmets endorsed by two of the sport's top riders: Trey Canard and Andrew Short. With two different helmet lines for each superstar, and with multiple variations available for each helmet, it is easy to find a helmet that looks perfect with your current riding gear.

First up are the 2012 Fly Kinetic Pro Series helmets. Each of these helmets have been manufactured to meet DOT and ECE approval, which are known to be some of the toughest safety standards in all of motocross. The shell of these helmets consists of a poly alloy, with the interior featuring a removable, dual density EPS liner. The helmet's interior cheek pads are removable for cleaning purposes. The helmets boast sleek-looking aluminum visor hardware, which are just as stylish as they are functional.

The 2012 Fly Kinetic Pro Series Canard helmet is available in two different color schemes: orange and black or red and black. Each have team graphics that feature a tire tread pattern, with the Fly logo displayed prominently on the side of the visor and in various spots on the helmet. The 2012 Fly Kinetic Pro Series Short helmet is only available in one variation, which features a combination of yellow, orange, blue, red, white, and black. The highly involved graphics feature chevrons and streaks of lightning, as well as several Fly logos.

Next, we have the more expensive F2 Replica helmets. These helmets utilize stronger materials than the Kinetic Pro Series helmets, and they are also manufactured to higher safety standards - hence the inflated price tag. The Fly 2012 F2 Replica helmets meet safety standards established by DOT, Snell M2010, and ECE. They feature a specialized design and styling, and utilize aluminum hardware wherever possible. The helmet's custom molded rubber trim includes an integrated nose guard, and several vents work in conjunction with a multi-port air induction cooling system to provide maximum airflow.

The 2012 Fly F2 Canard Replica helmet is available in three different color combinations: blue, white, and black; black and red; or orange and black. It is virtually identical to the 2012 Fly Kinetic Pro Series Canard helmet - with the exception of the blue variant - but its durable, lightweight construction justifies the increased price.

Finally, the 2012 Fly F2 Short Replica helmet is also available in three different color combinations: blue, lime, and purple; gray, white, and black; or yellow, orange, and black. The latter is identical to the 2012 Fly Kinetic Pro Series Short helmet, and the remaining two designs - while boasting identical graphic layouts - add some color variation to the helmet's familiar design.

Because the helmets in Fly's 2012 F2 Replica series look identical to the inexpensive Kinetic Pro Series, it is really up to you to decide which one you want. All of the helmets in question meet the necessary safety requirements for professional motocross racing, but the Replica line is manufactured to a higher standard in this regard.
